BILOXI —No, there was no truth to the rumor that there were so many turnovers in the first half of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs game that the concession stand at The Biloxi Sports Complex added a new item to its menu.
What was a fact, however, was that when the dust settled at the Indians’ Homecoming contest was that the Greyhounds headed back across the bridge with their 22nd consecutive region win.
Ocean Springs turned a slight 14-7 first half lead into a 34-14 win with a pretty dominant second half performance. The decision moves the Greyhounds to 3-0 in Region 4-7A action and Biloxi drops to 1-2.
“It was a good win but we’ve got plenty to clean up,” second year OSHS mentor Jake Bramlett, whose team moved to to the .500 level for the first time all season at 4-4, said. “I was very proud of our effort, and it was a great game by our defense.”

The teams evenly split six first half turnovers. But OSHS quarterback Sharroid Whitehead accounted for three touchdowns to help the Greyhounds get the win.
Ocean Springs linebacker Gabe Virga provided the only touchdown of the first quarter when he stepped in front of a Wyatt Pyron pass and sprinted 46-yards for a score to make it 7-0 with just over four minutes left in the period.
The Greyhounds quickly doubled that advantage to 14-0 as the second stanza started when quarterback Sharroid Whitehead raced 30-yards down the visitor’s sideline for a touchdown on the second play of the quarter.
Biloxi cut the deficit in half when Jaylen Johnson dashed 54-yard scoring scamper with 2:21 to play before halftime to make it 14-7 at intermission.

But the second half was when the visiting team took over, with 13 third quarter points to take a 27-7 lead at point point with just over three minutes left in the period.
Whitehead raced 74-yards right up the middle on the third play of the first Greyhound possession for a score to make it 20-7
On the next OSHS possession, Smith bounced down the field on a 47-yard run to the Biloxi 31, and three plays later Whitehead found Nolan Wells open from 18-yards out for a scoring strike to make it 27-7.
Biloxi fought back with a 41-yard scoring scamper from Johnson to make it 27-14 two minutes later, but that would be as close as the Indians would get.

After Biloxi turned the ball over on downs twice in OSHS territory in the fourth period, including after Pyron’s pass sailed right through his receiver’s hands in the end zone on a fourth and-one play at the Greyhound eight-yard line, Smith sprinted 68-yards for the final touchdown of the night to secure the win.
“Both Whitehead and Smith made some big plays for us and that was a key,” Bramlett concluded
Darrion Perkins had a pair of interceptions for Biloxi, while Ayden Watson cause two turnovers for OSHS.
