ST. MARTIN — Ocean Springs wrapped up yet another region title Thursday night with a comfortable 42-15 win over home-standing St. Martin.
The win moved the Greyhounds to 5-0 in the region race as OSHS captured its 24th straight win in league play, a school record as well as the fourth straight region crown. Ocean Springs, now 6-4 overall, will host Northwest Rankin in the opening round of the Class 7A South State playoffs next Friday.
The Yellow Jackets, on the other hand, dropped their 22nd consecutive region loss and finish the season at 3-7. St. Martin is 0-17 in league play under third year head coach Ty Smith.




Ocean Springs jumped out to a commanding 28-0 lead at halftime.
Greyhound quarterback Sharroid Whitehead plunged into the endzone on a keeper for the first OSHS score after Will Smith’s 37-yard run got OSHS inside the SMHS five.
Whitehead then went to Nolan Wells for a 25-yard fade route touchdown to make it 14-0. Whitehead then hit Ian Harlan on a 36-yard scoring strike. to make it 21-0 at the 4:49mark of the second period.
Ayden Watson came up with a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Greyhounds that 28-0 halftime lead.




Chalmers Breglind scored on a 4-yard run to make it 35-0 less than two minutes into the third quarter to set in motion a running clock.
St. Martin quarterback Kevin Marshall accounted for both Yellow Jackets as he ran two-yards for one and connected with Monclair Brave on a 60-yard scoring strike.
