BILOXI — The next “Southern Six” Senior Spotlight sponsored by Reese’s of the new school year is Tristain Haynes of Biloxi.
Each week throughout the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports will highlight a senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six” to honor.
It’s pretty unusual when a wide receiver leads a football team in scoring in a season, but that’s exactly what the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Haynes has done so far for the Indians this year.

Haynes leads Biloxi in touchdowns with six and is also the leading receiver for the Indians during new head coach Jamey Dubose’s first year at the helm. Haynes has recorded 36 catches for almost 500 yards and is averaging a whopping 14.7 yards a catch this season with a long reception of 56-yards.
Last week, Biloxi wrapped up its first regular season under the guidance of Dubose in exciting and successful fashion as the Indians tallied 14 unanswered points in a span of one minute and 10 seconds in the final two minutes of the game to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with a spine-tingling 24-23 win over neighboring rival D’Iberville in Region 4-7A play.

Haynes hooked up with Indian quarterback Wyatt Pyron on three key scoring strikes including a 20-yard touchdown toss with 1:31 to play and another less than 30 seconds later from 15-yards out to complete the quick comeback.
He also had a catch on a 22-yard skinny post for a touchdown at the 4:45 mark of the opening period.
Haynes, a multi-sport standout that also plays baseball and has played basketball for BHS, leads his Indians into the opening round of the Class 7A South State playoffs Friday night on the road against perennial state power Oak Grove.
