From Various Reports

The season came to an end for a trio of prep football squads in the “Southern Six” Friday night in the opening round of the South State playoffs.
Home-standing Hattiesburg hammered Hancock 48-14 in first round play in Class 6A.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead and never looked back against the Hawks. Hattiesburg remains unbeaten on the season at 12-0 and will host Pascagoula in the second round of the playoffs next week.

Then, on the first offensive possession of the game for HHS, Vance capped the scoring drive off with a 3-yard touchdown plunge to make it 13-0.
Hancock got a 2-yard touchdown run from running back Alex Vincent in the first half to trail 25-6 at halftime

Meanwhile, in Brookhaven, the home-standing Panthers thumped visiting Vancleave 42-21 in the opening round in Class 5A. Ole’ Book moves to an impressive 10-1 overall on the season and will host Stone next week in the second round.
Vancleave’s once promising season ends on a three game losing streak and with a sudden thud at 5-6.
The Bulldogs scored on an 86-yard pass from Wyatt Adams to Daylan Moore as Brookhaven went into halftime up 21-7.
Trailing 28-7 in the third quarter, Vancleave scored on a quarterback sneak by Adams and an 8-yard run by Kyle Capers, but that would be all for VHS.
