GULFPORT — Bert Jenkins Gymnasium is hosting the “Gulfport Thanksgiving Shootout” over the next two days.
Both the host Gulfport boys and girls will be in action on Monday and Tuesday, while the Harrison Central boys and girls will join in the fray on Tuesday when play wraps up.
The Admirals, under the direction of first year head coach Brian Butler, come into the annual affair at a perfect 6-0 after thumping West Marion 73-34 on Saturday. Butler’s crew cap off the first day of action on Monday against Mobile (Ala.) Davidson High in a game slated for 8 p.m.
In the weekend win over the Trojans, Tavarus Brown and Morris Robertson, Jr., evenly split 34 points tallying a co-game-high 17 points for the Admirals, while Chance Gaines added eight points to the winning cause .


Gulfport has won its last three contests all by at least 34 points apiece over WMHS, South Pike and Bay High.
Meanwhile, the Gulfport girls are set to face Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 6:30 Monday night.

The Lady Admirals come into the two-day tourney at 3-2, after they stopped a short two game losing streak with a 48-42 win over South Pike Friday night.
There are six games scheduled for Monday.
On Tuesday, the GHS boys will meet Northeast Lauderdale again in the last game of the day at 8 p.m., while the GHS girls will meet Velma Jackson prior to that as well at 6:30.

Also on Tuesday, the Harrison Central girls jump into action under new head coach Sandra Rushing at 12:30 against MRA.
Then, at 5 p.m., and preceding the two games by the host teams the Red Rebels from HCHS join the action facing Jackson Academy at 5 p.m.
