ST. MARTIN — A two day, eight team all “Southern Six” affair is on tap here at Yellow Jacket Gymnasium over the next two days as St. Martin hosts the “Dina Holland Thanksgiving Invitational”.
Action gets started on Monday and carries over to wrap up on Tuesday and will feature the boys and girls teams from the host school as well as Gautier, D’Iberville and Long Beach.

The St. Martin girls and boys come into their own invitational affair each on pretty successful starts to the season, as the Yellow Jackets sit at 8-2 and the Lady Jackets are 7-0.


Both host teams picked up wins over the weekend in the annual “St. Patrick Luck O’ the Irish Holiday Tournament” as the girls beat 46-34 and the boys knocked off Petal 69-62.

For the Yellow Jackets, sophomore R.J. Keys poured in a game-high 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the winning effort and he also dished out five assists, while point guard Jaxon Walker added nine points and seven rebounds against the Panthers and Lleyton Wilson chipped in eight points and seven boards as well.
The St. Martin boys were coming off of a big blowout Friday afternoon matinee win over visiting Vancleave Friday in a 54-18 decision.

In that game, Keys and Walker each had 12 points and five rebounds apiece.

The Yellow Jackets are on a four game win streak headed into the tournament this week.


Meanwhile, in Biloxi on Saturday, the SMHS girls beat Oak Forrest (La.) 46-34 in the SPHS event.
Kylenn Ward tallied a game-high 18 points for the Lady Yellow Jackets and Kylah Jenkins chipped in 10 points.
