ST. MARTIN — The D’Iberville girls basketball team picked the perfect time to snap a short three game losing streak just in time to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner this week with a .500 record.
The Lady Warriors, under the direction of veteran head coach Robin Jefferies, picked up a pair of wins over the past two days in the annual “Dina Holland Thanksgiving Tournament” here at St. Martin High School.

D’Iberville followed a 43-17 win over Long Beach in the first game of the event Monday afternoon with a big 51-17 win over Gautier in the first game of day two action Tuesday afternoon in this all “Southern Six” eight game affair.

D’Iberville got four points in the first frame from Nay Jefferson and then she and Kaitlyn Harris put in six points apiece in the second stanza as the Lady Warriors continued to stretch their lead to 16 at intermission.

If the Lady Gators had any plans of a second half comeback, D’Iberville’s Laylay Evans quickly put those thoughts to rest as she scored six points in the third period while both Jefferson and Amayah Hill chipped in five points apiece as DHS rolled up 24 points in the period to carry a 44-23 lead into the fourth frame.
