BROOKLYN — The Picayune girls have had some ups and downs so far this season.
And that is apparent in the record of the Lady Tide, which sits at 6-7 after a close loss on the road here to home-standing Forrest County AHS Tuesday night.
The Lady Aggies slipped past Picayune 49-45 in a seesaw game. Junior Rhyen Goss had 21 points to lead Picayune, while Mercedes Dorsey had a game-high 26 points for the Lady Aggies, who moved one game above the .500 level at 8-7.

Picayune was coming of one of its best outings of the season, in a 53-16 thumping of Long Beach in Region 4-6A play. It marked the first win in the region race this season for the Lady Tide, who are 1-1 in league play.
Goss had 22 points and four steals in the win over the Lady Bearcats, while Laikyn Moore added 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds plus four steals and Kimora Banks chipped in six rebounds to the winning effort.
Picayune’s two region losses are to the top two teams in the league in both Hancock and West Harrison, who share the top spot in the loop at 3-0 apiece.
Goss had 20 points and Moore six boards in the loss to the Lady ‘Canes, which opened league play for both teams.

The Lady Tide went into league play coming off of another big early season win with a 57-54 decision over Hattiesburg.
Picayune’s dynamic duo of Goss and Moore combined for 37 points, 12 rebounds, 12 steals and eight assists in that win. Goss had a game-high 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Moore had 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a game-high nine steals. Banks added nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds just missing a double-double, and Carleigh Gullotte added nine boards as well.
Also, in an 86-53 thumping of Sumrall earlier this season, Goss tallied 23 points while Moore registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards and Gullotte ripped down 11 rebounds as well.

Picayune returns home to face its third foe from the Hattiesburg area so far this season Friday night as Petal comes to town.
Then, after the upcoming Christmas break, the Lady Tide heads to the Tigerdome in Bay St. Louis to play in the annual Bay High Christmas Tournament for two days.
