MOSS POINT — The next “Southern Six Senior Spotlight” sponsored by Reese’s of the school year is Jordyn Ford of Moss Point.

Each week throughout the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports will highlight a senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six” to honor.

Ford, a senior guard/forward for the Lady Tigers basketball team, has led Moss Point into the holiday break with a 9-6 record after four straight wins, with all of the decisions coming thanks in large part to the play of Ford.

The senior swing standout has scored in double digits in all seven games this month for MPHS including 18 points in a win 54-49 win over Alma Bryant which marked the highest offensive output for MPHS this season and started the recent win streak.

Included in that current four game win streak is a win in Moss Point’s Region 8-4A opener. an exciting 35-34 decision over visiting Greene County. Ford led the way in that win with a game-high 15 points.

She also matched that 18-point output earlier in the season in a 33-17 win over Pelahatchie as she outscored the opposing team by herself.

Her 12 points per game and five rebounds per contest lead the Lady Tigers this season in both categories. In Moss Point’s 15 games, Ford has scored in double figures 13 times and in the other two games she scored nine points both times.

Moss Point has won nine out of its past 13 games after starting the season off at 0-2, as the Lady Tigers return from a brief holiday break with a trip to Philadelphia, Miss., this weekend to compete in the annual Neshoba Central Christmas Tournament Friday and Saturday.

In fact, the current win streak for MPHS could easily stand at seven straight and cover the entire month of December so far because after a 36-32 overtime road loss to Class 7A foe D’Iberville to begin the month a 40-20 win over Mobile Williamson followed on Friday, Dec. 6th in which Ford scored 16 points.

The Lady Tigers fell in overtime to Gulf Shores 37-36 the next day in the “Gulf Coast HoopsFest” at St. Martin High, as Ford tallied 15 points and seven rebounds in that loss. The current win streak began three days later.

The 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:30 PM CT at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The game and practices will be televised on the NFL Network. 

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Alabama the past 75 years.  More than 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 teams, and over 1100 media members from around the country were credentialed this year. This past April, the game produced 110 total picks, representing 43 percent of the entire NFL draft.
