MOSS POINT — This week’s “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” goes to Moss Point’s JuJuan Nettles as presented by SouthMiss6 Sports.
Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.
Nettles has been a Tiger on a bit of a tear as of late since returning from an early season arm injury. He tallied a game-high 18 points for Moss Point in a key 58-25 thumping of Poplarville in Region 8-4A play on the road Monday night to pull the Tigers to an even 1-1 in league play.

After missing the first 10 games of the current campaign with that arm issue, the 6-foo-2 senior swing forward/guard standout returned with a big statement as he poured in a career-high 25 points and posted a double-double with 10 rebounds as the Tigers toppled Long Beach 65-52 in just his third game back.
Nettles also had 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds to pace MPHS in a recent win over Alma Bryant on the road in Irvington, Ala., 48-39.

Last week, he scored 16 points and pulled down eight boards in a 46-39 win over Class 7A foe Oak Grove in the opening round of the annual Hattiesburg Coca-Cola Christmas Classic.
Nettles has teamed up with junior forward William Rogers to give Moss Point some much-needed leadership, and they took turns carrying the Tigers against OG, Nettles in the first half, Rogers in the second.
“We like playing tough teams, because it gets us ready for our region,” said Nettles. “We want to be one of the best teams in the state, and to do that, you’ve got to play the best. That’s the only way to do it.”

He followed that up with another double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Richton in the same event.
Moss Point hosts St. Martin Saturday afternoon at Arthur Haynes Gym.
