PONTOTOC — The Biloxi girl’s basketball team finished off the 2024 portion of their schedule at a perfect 16-0.
Now, as a new year begins, the Lady Indians look to continue that momentum at a tournament where they’ve enjoyed some success in the past.
Biloxi heads to North Mississippi for an all-star-filled two day affair, as head coach Devin Hill takes his crew here to Pontotoc High School to compete in the prestigious “Tangle on the Trail”.
The 10th annual affair features 11 games over two days on Friday and Saturday for the first time ever. The event began in 2016, but the previous nine Tangle’s were just multi-game, one day affairs. The 2020 Tangle was canceled due to Covid.

“It is the premier event in the state, in my opinion,” Hill, a Columbus, Miss., native said Thursday afternoon after practice. “It’s always great for me going back because I’m from that area. I get a chance to catch up with old coaching buddies and see these teams compete. For our girls, it gives us the opportunity to compete at a high level against really good competition. Thankfully we have had success in previous years. Hopefully, we can continue trending in that direction. It should be a lot of fun.”
The Tanglefoot Trail is a rail trail in northeastern Mississippi. Tangle organizers showed their opinion of this year’s event on Twitter last week…
“This is quite possibly our best girls Tangle yet. We have Five Star prospects, tons of college players, state champions, and elite match-ups.” they said,

The event tips off Friday afternoon with three games, including Biloxi facing Oak Grove, La., in the nightcap at 6 p.m.
That match-up is set to be a battle of the bigs, as Biloxi Dandy Dozen 6-foot-4 sophomore center will face off against Oak Grove counterpart Caroline Bradley who is a 6-foo-5 sophomore standout as well.
Then, on Saturday in day two play, the Lady Indians meet Jackson Callaway in game four at 3 p.m.
Callaway sits at a solid 14-2 on the season, thanks in large part to the play of standout point guard JoJo Wilson who has several D-I offers.
This marks the third straight season Biloxi has taken a trip to Tanglefoot. Last season, the Lady Indians beat South Panola 38-28 and the year before BHS knocked off Neshoba Central 40-37.
