NEW AUGUSTA — Our Lady Academy remained atop the Region 8-3A standings Monday night with a 61-40 win over home-standing Perry Central.

The Crescents moved to a solid 15-2 overall with the win as well as a perfect 4-0 in the region race.

OLA led 14-10 after the first period, thanks in large part to seven points from Nicole Bradford who had a 3-pointer as well as a 3-pointer from Valentina Mossy.

Taylor Henley tallied seven points of her own in the second stanza for the Crescents, including a 3-pointer, and Bradford dropped in a trey of her own as OLA slowly stretched its advantage as the period unfolded and eventually took a 30-21 lead into halftime.

But it was the third frame when OLA began to insert its dominance, out-scoring the. Lady Bulldogs 22-7 to take a commanding 52-28 advantage into the final period. Mossy drained a pair of treys in the quarter, and Henley added one of her own and scored five points as the Crescents took control.

Henley scored a game-high 16 points to pace OLA, while Bradford chipped in 13 points to the winning effort and Mossy had 10 points and Leah Laporte added 10 points also.

Chaylin Travis led PCHS with 15 points as the Lady Bulldogs 0-4 in region play.

The Crescents stay on the road Tuesday night and remain in region play with a trip to St. Patrick on tap.

For OLA, the win Monday night completed a two game sweep of Perry Central in just a six day span after a 78-54 win over the Lady Bulldogs in Bay St. Louis last week.

The Crescents followed that up with a 77-57 win over Pearl River, La., on Thursday. The win Monday night marked the 14th straight win for OLA since opening the season at 1-2.
