GULFPORT — The Biloxi Lady Indians bounced back from their first loss of the season in fine fashion Tuesday night.
Home-standing Harrison Central was never in the game, as Biloxi bombed the HCHS girls 54-13 in Region 4-7A play. The win moves the Lay Indians to 21-1 overall, and a perfect 6-0 in the region race as they started the second half of the region schedule.
Coming off of a 32-25 loss to Booker T. Washington of Pensacola, Fla. over the weekend, Biloxi wasted no time in taking a quick and commanding lead on the road as the stellar sophomore combination of center Zaniya Johnson and guard Jayla Carriere combined for 14 points apiece in totally different fashion in the first quarter.

Carriere dropped in a pair of 3-pointers for her six point total while Johnson dominated down low on the block with a trio of inside baskets as well as two free throws for eight points as the Lady Indians jumped out to a impressive 22-1 lead entering the second period.
Carriere was right back at it in the next quarter, as she tallied seven more points including another triple and Biloxi rolled into halftime up almost inexplicably at 35-5 and basically the game was all but over at that point.

Carriere paced Biloxi with a game-high 16 points while Johnson added 14 points and hill sat his starters for most of the second half. Aaliyah Davidson added seven points to the winning effort.
It was a balanced scoring attack for HCHS, as six different players scored one basket apiece. Harrison Central fell to 3-3 in the region race and sits at 11-6 overall under first-year head coach Sandra Rushing.
Up next for Biloxi is a home date against D’Iberville Friday night while Harrison Central remains at home to face Gulfport on the same night as all four teams remain n Region 4-7A play.
