PASS CHRISTIAN — Since the calendar flipped over to a new year recently, it’s been nothing but winning basketball for the Pass Christian boys basketball team.

The Pirates won their fifth straight game since 2025 dawned a new day in the Pass on Wednesday night with a 53-42 decision over visiting Bay High in the renewal of a long-running neighboring rivalry.

Just as important for Pass Christian, all five recent wins have come in Region 8-4A action, as the Pirates find themselves sitting atop the region race at 5-0 in their first season under new head coach Robin Sikes and at 14-8 overall.

In the latest win, Bay High jumped up slightly at 10-9 after the first quarter as Tiger standout Anthony Robinson scored five points in the period including a 3-pointer.

It was in the second stanza that the Pirates began to stake their claim to yet another region win, as Landon Hall tallied 10 points in the quarter, including a trey of his own, and PCHS heated up on the offensive end out-scoring Bay High 18-8 to pull into halftime up 27-18.

Hall added five more points in the third frame, including another trey, and Perry Williams had five points of his own as well as his second 3-pointer of the contest. But Bay High stayed within striking distance as Jaxon Meranto drained a pair of 3-pointers and Robinson added five points including another trey and the teams went into the fourth period with the home team ahead 42-33.

But Hall dashed any hopes of a big Tiger comeback as he tallied nine more points in the final frame, and, yes, including another trey, as the Pirates sailed home with the win.

Hall poured in a game-high 29 points in what amounted to one of his best performances of the season to pace Pass Christian to the big win. Kyran Laneaux added 11 points and Williams chipped in eight points to the winning effort.

Meranto paced the Tigers with 11 points, while Robinson added 10 points and Nijyah Abbot had nine points as BHS fell to 10-11 overall and 1-3 in the region race.
