OCEAN SPRINGS — The Ocean Springs boys basketball team completed a clean season sweep of arch-rival St. Martin in Region 4-7A play Friday night.
The Greyhounds, under the direction of second year head coach and former OSHS standout Collin Goley, clipped the Yellow Jackets 51-33 at Hubbard Gym here on the campus of Ocean Springs High School. The win pushes Goley’s squad back above the .500 level at 11-10 overall for the first time in almost a month, and also helps the Greyhounds tighten their paws around the third place spot in the region race as well as they move to 5-2 in league play.

Greyhound senior standout and Dandy Dozen selection Maddox Noblitt poured in a game-high 24 points in the winning effort including nine points all coming on a trio of 3-pointers in the fateful fourth frame.
Ocean Springs led just slightly at 30-27 entering the final period, before Noblitt found his grove from long range and Jacolby Bailey also added five points including a trey of his own down the stretch as OSHS exploded to outscore the Yellow Jackets 21-6 in the fourth period and coast to the win.

St. Martin led 20-19 at halftime, thanks to Kai Vierra who had almost half of those points for the Yellow Jackets in the first half with eight points including a pair of triples in the opening frame.
But Noblitt dropped in six points in the third quarter and his backcourt mate Christian Cowan chipped a 3-pointer as the Greyhounds slowly wrestled the lead away from SMHS to take that aforementioned three-point advantage into the fourth period.
In addition to Nobitt’s 24 points, which included four total treys on his worksheet, Cowan added nine points to the winning effort and Bailey had seven points.

Noblitt eclipsed the magical 1,000 career points plateau earlier in the week with a game-high 15 points in a 43-35 win over D’Iberville.
Jaxson Walker tallied 10 points for St. Martin, while Vierra finished with eight points and Lleyton Wilson added seven points.
The Yellow Jackets fell to 15-9 overall and sit in the fifth spot in the region race at 1-6.
Ocean Springs also beat St. Martin 48-43 six weeks ago.
