BILOXI —This week’s “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” goes to Riley Bishop of Hancock as presented by SouthMiss6 Sports.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.

The senior post product Bishop has really come into her own in her final campaign for the Lady Hawks, and her play this week has really proven that.

On Monday night, Hancock recorded its 23rd win in a campaign for the third straight season and the 5-foot-8 Bishop was a main reason why.

Hancock dispatched home-standing Pascagoula 52-35 to notch its 21st straight win in Region 4-6A play. Bishop made sure her squad would remain unbeaten in the region race going into their Region 4-6A finale Tuesday as right off the bat on Monday night as she tallied 11 first quarter points including a trio of 3-pointers as the Lady Hawks wasted no time in jumping out to a quick and commanding 19-7 lead entering the second period and never looked back.

Bishop drained two more 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and finished with a game-high 17 points for Hancock.

Then, on Tuesday night, the Lady Hawks clinched the region championship for the third straight year as well.

Hancock moved to an impressive 24-2 to end the regular season with a dominating 41-17 home victory over the West Harrison Lady Hurricanes.

Bishop complimented teammate Anslee James’ game-high 13 points as she tallied nine points in the winning effort.

The Lady Hawks have won 54 out of 58 games during the last two seasons with Bihop in the mix, including going 30-2 last season and falling just two wins short of winning a state title.
