KILN — The last time the Hancock girls hosted a region tournament the Lady Hawks fell in the opening round of play.
Five years later, Hancock made sure history wouldn’t repeat itself.

It marks the third straight season that head coach Jamie Sisco’s squad. has notched at least 25 wins in a season. It also was Hancock’s 23rd straight region win over the past two seasons.

“We came out of the gate with a purpose tonight,” Sisco said. “Early in the game our ball movement and spacing created easy scoring chances. Good win for our team to get the postseason going, and I look forward to playing for a district championship on Friday.”

Home-standing Hancock wasted no time in taking complete control en route to its third win over Picayune this season. Lady Hawk guard Cambria Necaise opened the game with eight points in the first half while forward and fellow senior Anslee James chipped in seven points in the opening frame as well as HHS jumped out to a 23-7 lead entering the second stanza. Hancock center Riley Bishop added five points also, including a 3-pointer.
