The next “Southern Six” Senior Spotlight sponsored by Reese’s of the school year is Biloxi’s Wyatt Pyron.
Each week throughout the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports will highlight a senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six” to honor.
Despite being saddled with a tough 1-0 loss on the road in Petal Tuesday night, the senior right hander Pyron sparkled on the mound as he threw six shutout innings allowing just one hit and striking out 16 batters. But the Indians didn’t give him much help at the plate.
And once Pyron moved to third base in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Panthers managed to scrape together enough offense to get the only run of the game in a walk-off 1-0 victory at Panther Field.

Biloxi dropped to 1-3 against a ferocious non-region schedule, while Petal improved to 5-1.
“He was outstanding tonight,” said Biloxi coach Hawtin Buchanan of Pyron. “From the jump, he commanded the strike zone; he attacked the zone. We tell our pitchers all the time that, especially in high school baseball, when you go out and smother the strike zone, you give yourself a chance.”
And the multi-sport standout Pyron did just that. He struck out the first four batters he faced, and had at least two strikeouts in each inning that he pitched. The 16 strikeouts tied a school record according to some observers.

In addition, he also paced the Indians at the plate collecting two of Biloxi’s total of three hits and he drew a walk as well. Pyron was also the starting quarterback for the Indian football team last season.
