While many of the larger classification schools in the “Southern Six” are participating in the annual “Battle of the Beach” this week, for six squads in the four lower classifications it’s time to start region action.
In Class 4A, Bay High is facing Pass Christian while Moss Point takes on Greene County in Region 8-4A play.
In Class 3A, St. Stanislaus is taking on Perry Central and St. Patrick is facing Tylertown in Region 8-3A.

And, in class 1A, Resurrection is clashing with Lumberton in Region 8-1A.
Bay High-Pass, MPHS-GCHS, SSC-PCHS and RCS-Lumberton are all Tuesday, Friday and Saturday affairs, while SPHS-Tylertown will go down Thursday-Saturday.
Also, Poplarville is the odd man out this week in Region 8-4A and gets the week off before starting Region 8-4A play next week. Instead, the Pirates are facing Hattiesburg High in a home and home series this week on Tuesday and Thursday.
While Pass Christian isn’t competing in the BATB this week, the Pirates are hosting a few games in the annual affair as Hernando meets Northwest Rankin at 1 p.m., Wednesday.

St. Stanislaus is coming off of a 4-2 win over Heritage Academy on Saturday, as the Rock-A-Chaws were coming off of a close 5-4 loss on the road to perennial Class 7A state power Oak grove in 10 innings Friday night.
Warrior batter Andrew Kelly was hit by a pitch with two outs and the bases-loaded to provide the winning run.
Tate Murphy had two hits for SSC, including a double, and Wiley Mossy smacked a two-run home run for the Rocks.
