Here’s our daily “Battle at the Beach” update for Day 7:
In addition to Ocean Springs hosting and getting a win Wednesday night in the ninth annual “Battle at the Beach”, Jackson County neighbor St. Martin also earned a home win.
The Yellow Jackets nipped Canton Academy 12-11, bouncing back from a 13-0 loss to visiting Spanish Fort Tuesday night.
St. Martin jumped out to leads of 4-0 after the second stanza and 8-0 after the third frame, before the Panthers responded with four runs of their own in the top of the fourth inning to make it 8-4. The Yellow Jackets bounced back with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth and Canton countered with seven runs in the fifth before the game was called due to a time limit.

Dax Hill had a three-run triple for SMHS, while Kaden Walker had a double and drove in three runs as well. Will Roebuck also had a double for the Yellow Jackets.
Sean Bates had a two run homer for CAHS and he finished with two hits total.
Lincoln Hust, one of four SMHS pitchers, picked up the win and Rivers Groue earned a save.
St. Martin faces Picayune Friday night at 7 p.m, at Keesler Federal Park.

Meanwhile, in Harrison County Wednesday night, the Maroon Tide ran its impressive early season record to 10-1 on the season beating Pillow Academy at Herbert Wilson Field in Gulfport.
Picayune overcame an early 2-0 deficit with single runs in both the third and fourth frames to knot things up before breaking the game open with a three spot in both the fifth and sixth stanzas to take the win.
Kendall Blevins worked five solid stanzas to earn the pitching win for Picayune.
Cooper Moreux paced Picayune at the plate with a game-high three hits, including an RBI-double, while Parker Helton chipped in a pair of hits to the winning attack and both Turner Pugh and Landon Franklin added a double apiece.
Aiden Valente had three hits for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, West Harrison slipped past visiting Hartley 4-2.
The Hurricanes scored all of their runs early, with two in the first inning and two more in the second.
Dezi Curley got the Hurricanes humming with an RBI-double in the opening frame, followed by a run-scoring single from Kenny Linell. An inning later, Reece Parker’s two-run single made it 4-0.
Cameron Sandel went the distance on the mound for WHHS to pick up the win, striking out six and walking two while allowing six hits.
Tristan Hendrix collected a game-high three hits for Hatley.
And, Hartfield Academy beat home-standing Harrison Central 13-2.
