Prep Baseball: Gators take early lead in Region 4-5A race with sweep of Golden Tornadoes Tuesday

GAUTIER — Gautier took the early lead in the Region 4-5A race Tuesday night.
The Gators easily swept a doubleheader from visiting Laurel 18-2 and 14-0 both in shortened run-rule games in the opening league action for both teams.

In game one, both Darrie Slay, Jr., and Tylan Moore each drove in three runs apiece for the Gators, while Frederick Nicholson had two hits including a double and also drove in two runs. Slay and Ronnie Bates also had two hits for GHS. Bates also drove in a run.
Heiron Figueroa picked up the pitching win in the opener.

In game two, Sebastian Gonzalez and Caden Jones drove in a pair of runs apiece for GHS, while Slay had an RBI-double and Bates drove in a run also. Justin Ormon, Robert Fernandez and Ian McInnis all drove in a run apiece for the Gators also.
Gonzalez got the pitching win in game two.
The two teams will close out the three game series in Laurel Thursday afternoon.
