BILOXI — St. Stanislaus evened up the scorecard in the annual “Catholic League Battle” Friday night.
The visiting Rock-A-Chaws clipped arch-rival St. Patrick 6-1 in game two of their Region 8-3A series. The loss was an answer for a 4-3 loss earlier in the week by the Fighting Irish in Bay St. Louis.
The decision moved SSC to an even 2-2 in the region race and 11-6 overall, while St. Patrick drops to 3-1 in league play and 12-5 overall.




In game two, Sam Pike had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Rocks, while both Ayden Dartez and Brooks Ilgenfritz each added two hits and an RBI apiece to the winning effort. Wiley Mossy collected a run-scoring triple and Gabe Podlin had a triple while Stephen Hutchison added an RBI-double for SSC.
The Rocks broke open a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth on Pike’s run-scoring ground out for a 1-0 lead they would never relinquish, and then SSC sealed the win with three more runs in the top of the fifth thanks to RBI-singles by Pike, Dartez and Ilgenfritz.
Meanwhile, Jackson Orozco went almost five frames on the mound to pick up the pitching win for SSC, striking out six, and Warren Gunter finished up.




Eli Bowen had two hits and drove in the only run for SPHS, while Ayden Le also had two hits.
Jacob Alexander took the loss.
On Tuesday, in game one, Fighting Irish catcher Jasper Moran stepped to the plate in a 3-3 tie with two outs in the top of the seventh and smacked a solo home run to provide the game-winning mark for SPHS.
Alexander had two hits and two RBI’s in that win for SPHS.
Tate Murphy had a double for SSC.
Chandler Marsland worked six solid stanzas to pick up the win for the Fighting Irish, and Alexander earned a save with two strike outs in a scoreless seventh inning.
Pike suffered the loss.
