And, as league play gets rolling in week three, the four “Southern Six” squads in the loop get a chance to catch up to league-leading Greene County in the region race.

Wildcat hurler Cam Pipkins went the distance in the series finale Saturday and struck out 11 in a 7-3 GCHS win.

Fredrick Weems hit a home run for Bay High, while both Cameron Kelly and Cole Helton smacked home runs for the Wildcats.
Helton also had a home run in a 16-1 GCS win on Thursday and yet another in a 9-8 win on Tuesday. Brennan Bilich homered for the Tigers in game one of the series as well.
Bay High, which is 0-18 on the year, is 0-6 in the region race and faces Poplarville in a three game series this week while Moss Point meets Pass Christian. Moss Point is 3-13 on the season and is also 0-6 in league play
Greene County is off this week.
On Saturday, Poplarville took the rubber match of its series against Pass Christian 8-3.
Peyton Picasso had a big three-run double for the Hornets, while Jeff Smith had two hits including a run-scoring double in the win.
Aiden Mitchell had a two run home run for the Pirates.

On Thursday, in game two of the series, Pass Christian pitcher Brendan Necaise shut down the Hornet hitters in a 4-1 Pirate win.
Necaise hurled a complete three-hitter and struck out eight. Poplarville’s Brock Shepard had a solo home run.
Poplarvile is 2-1 in the region race while PCHS is 4-2 after sweeping Bay High in week one of league play.
In that series, Necaise, a Pearl River Community College commit, came up big both at the plate and on the mound for Pass head coach Ricky Smith and the Pirates as Region 8-4A play began.
In game one, in an 8-4 PCHS win, Necaise delivered a pair of hits and drove in two runs and he also came on to pitch the final two innings to seal the decision.
Then, in game two, he had two more hits and an RBI as the Pirates won by a touchdown at 13-6.
Finally, in game three, Necaise took matters into his own hands as with his arm he tossed a complete game performance striking out 13 and walking none in picking up the pitching win and also slapped a solo home run in a close 3-2 PCHS win.
Also in that series, Kayleb Munsch came up big at the plate for PCHS as he went 7-for-11, with two doubles and three triples and he drove in six runs.
