LUCEDALE — The next “Southern Six” Senior Spotlight sponsored by Reese’s of the school year is Brodie Cecchi of George County.

Each week throughout the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports will highlight a senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six” to honor.

Cecchi blasted a big three run home run for the Rebels Saturday to wrap up a three game sweep over West Harrison in Region 4-6A play and wound up with a game-high four RBIs in the 7-6 come-from-behind win in eight innings.

He also had a hit and scored a run one week ago in game two of that series.

Then, this week against Long Beach in region action, he had two of George County’s three total hits in a 2-0 loss to the Bearcats on Tuesday before scoring two runs in a 6-0 win for the Rebels at home Thursday night.

Cecchi had a helping hand as the Rebels landed George County’s first state championship since 1997 last season as a junior.

The senior shortstop and the Rebels face LBHS again on Friday night before starting a huge three game Region 4-6A contest with Picayune next week.
