A pair of Jackson County squads completed region sweeps Friday night.

Both Vancleave and Pascagoula completed a big week on the baseball diamond with the decisions..

The Bulldogs remained perfect in Region 4-5A play with a 6-5 win over Jackson County rival Gautier, while the Panthers moved above the .500 mark at 4-2 in Region 4-6A with a solid 9-4 win over Hancock.

In Gautier Friday night, Vancleave completed a three game sweep of the Gators with that close 6-5 win as the Bulldogs banged out 13 hits to move to 6-0 in league play.

Vancleave jumped out to a quick 3-0 first frame lead and held on for the win.

Aidan Tapp had a game-high four hits to vault Vancleave to the win, including a triple and a double, while Max Bates, Jaxon Albert and Colson Furby each added two hits apiece. Albert, Furby and Martin Shaw each had a double, while Shaw and Hunter Harper each drove in a pair of runs apiece.

Tony Craven picked up the pitching win.

Perez had two hits for the Gators and Herion Figueroa cracked a two-run double.

Sebastian Gonzalez took the loss for GHS.

On Thursday in game two of the series, Vancleave thumped the Gators 23-2 in just five frames.

Conner Mitchell had three hits for the Bulldogs, including a triple and a double, and drove in four runs while Harper had two hits and four RBIS as well and Tapp had three hits and two RBIs also.

Fredrick Nicholson had a home run and a double for the Gators.

Elsewhere, another Jackson County squad picked up a big win on Friday night as Pascagoula clinched its series with Hancock with that 9-4 win on the road.

The Panthers overcame a late 4-2 deficit with an eight run rally in the top of the sixth to pull out the win.

Jarrad Loper wielded the big stick in that uprising as he produced a two-run triple to kick it off and then added a key three-run double to end it while Knute Robinson added a two-run single.

Willie Sims had three hits to pace the Panthers at the plate and Loper added those two big knocks with the game-high four RBI’s.

Sims, one of a trio of Panther pitchers, earned the win with three frames of solid work on the mound.

Jaxson Knight led the Hawks with three hits, including a double, while both Brandon Arcement and Landon Shields had two hits each.

Knight took the loss in relief.

On Thursday night, following Pascagoula’s 4-2 win at home on Tuesday, the Panthers continued that success at Tillman Field with a 7-2 home win over the Hawks.

Jose Ocasio got PHS off to a fast 5-0 start with two hits in the first two innings including a two-run single in the second to put the Panthers up 5-0.

Ocasio paced Pascagoula at the plate with a career-high four hits and he drove in two runs while Robinson chipped in three hits to the winning cause. Braden Smith had two hits as well.

Robinson worked six solid stanzas on the hill to pick up the pitching win, as he and Sims limited the Hawks to just four hits.

Roston Ragon smacked a solo home run for HHS.

Arcement took the loss.
