Both Picayune and George County remained knotted up atop Region 4-6A after two weeks of play Friday night.
The Maroon Tide completed a sweep of West Harrison while the Rebels took two out of three against Long Beach. Both teams sit at 5-1 in the region race.
In Gulfport, Picayune jumped out to a commanding 8-2 lead after three frames and coasted to a 10-7 win over the Hurricanes.


Justin Stockstill and Brunson Stockstill paced Picayune at the plate, as each collected three hits apiece in the winning 14-hit attack. Justin Stockstill, who had a double and drove in two runs and Brunson Stockstill, who also had a double, had one RBI. Mason Ruble and Colt Robertson each had two hits, including a double apiece, and both drove in a run as well. Parker Helton and Cooper Moreaux each had two hits and a pair of RBIs each.


Dezi Curley also had three hits for the Hurricanes while Reece Parker had a home run among his two hits and he drove in two runs. Tyler Gazzier had two hits and a game-high three RBIs in the loss.
Robertson went almost six stanzas on the hill to pick up the win for Picayune.
Cameron Sandel took the loss in just one inning of work for West Harrison.
Also, on Thursday night in game two of the series, Helton hurled Picayune to a close 1-0 home win with six solid stanzas of two-hit work striking out nine in the process.
Helton also had two hits, including a double in the sixth that helped the Maroon Tide produce the only run of the game.
Ryan Seymour went the distance and took the tough-luck loss for the Hurricanes, who fall to 1-5 in the region race.




Meanwhile, on Friday night in Long Beach, George County clinched that three game series with the Bearcats with a hard-fought 6-4 win in nine innings.
Canyon Reeves provided the winning runs for the Rebels with a two-run, two-out double in the top of the ninth.
Reeves also picked up the pitching win with almost six solid stanzas of relief work, striking out nine and scattering just two hits.
He also led GCHS at the plate with a game-high three hits and those two RBIs. Brodie Cecchi also had a double for the Rebels.



Landon Moreaux had a double for the Bearcats, and Cayden Einhaus had two hits for Long Beach.
Caden Aherns suffered the loss on the hill.
On Thursday night in game two, George County rode the shutout pitching of Carson Pierce to a 6-0 whitewashing of Long Beach in Lucedale.
Blaine Green had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for the Rebels while Braxton Martin also drove in two runs for GCHS and Ben Davis added a double.
Dax Arkin had two hits for the Bearcats, who are now 3-3 in the region race.
Wayne Ulrich went the distance and took the loss for LBHS on the mound.
