GULFPORT — Biloxi bounced back to take the rubber match over arch-rival Gulfport Friday night 12-6 here at Herbert Wilson Field.

The decision, when coupled with Tuesday’s 5-4 win in game one of the series, leaves the Indians at 2-4 in Region 4-7A play entering week three of action. The Admirals, which won game two Thursday night by that exact 5-4 score, now sit at 4-2 in the region race.

“Huge amount of credit goes to our guys for responding to take the series from a good Gulfport team,” Biloxi head coach Hawtin Buchanan said. “Especially with how game two ended, it would have been extremely easy for us to come out flat in game three. But we were able to flush a tough loss and show up ready to compete on the road. Incredibly proud of our effort.”

In the series finale, Biloxi jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on a two-run double by Gage Dalferes in the top of the first frame.

It was in the third frame though when the Indians took command with a seven run uprising all with two outs that made it 9-0 at that point.

A pair of Admiral pitchers combined to either hit or walk four straight Biloxi batters with the bases loaded as Jaaxon Irvi, Lleyton Gunter, Wyatt Pyron and Tristan Haynes all earned RBIs for basically standing there. Adam Rugg followed with a two-run single and another run scored on the same play thanks to a pair of Admiral errors to make it 9-0 and basically seal the deal.

Dalferes added an RBI-single later in the game to finish the night with a pair of hits and a trio of RBIs, while Will Parker had two hits and drove in two runs. Rugg and Pyron each drove in two runs apiece also.

Bryk Bucklar worked just over five frames to earn the pitching win for BHS.

Carter Carriere, who along with Dane Sullivan was on the hill in that decisive third frame, took the loss for GHS.

Tolar Raybourn guided Gulfport at the plate with a game-high three hits, including a double, and drove in a run while James Van Slyke had two hits and an RBI and Mason Little drove in two runs as well.
