The Jackson County portion of Region 4-5A play will get started a day late this week.
A pair of league games involving a trio of Jackson County teams both got pushed back a day from Tuesday to Wednesday due to wet field conditions, as Gautier will host East Central and Vancleave will host Wayne County to open week three in the region race.

The Bulldogs, the defending Class 5A state champs, are currently riding high in Region 4-5A again at 6-0 so far while Wayne County sits alone in the second spot at 5-1 after sweeping Laurel last week. The Hornets and the Gators are knotted up in the third spot at 3-3 each, while Stone is at 1-5 and the Golden Tornadoes are in the cellar at 0-6.
Stone and Laurel were slated to begin that three game series Tuesday in Wiggins.
East Central bounced back from a win-less start in week one of Region 4-6A play with a perfect week two, finishing off a three games in four day sweep of Stone Friday night with a close 4-3 road win.
The trio of wins even the Hornets up at the region race at 3-3 and ECHS is now 10-11 overall. The Tomcats, who dropped two of three games to Wayne County to open league play last week, fall to 1-5 in the region race and are now 5-13 overall.

Also, yet another Jackson County squad will have its week start a day late as well as the Ocean Springs-Harrison Central match-up has been moved back a day as well.
The Red Rebels will host the Greyhounds Wednesday night in Region 4-7A play at 7 p.m.
Biloxi hosts D’Iberville in game one of a three game series to kick off week three of league play Tuesday night. Both the Indians and Warriors stand at 2-4 in the region race after two weeks of play.

Those two teams join St. Martin at 2-4 in the league standings, while Harrison Central sits in third place at 3-3. Ocean Springs leads the region race at 5-1, while Gulfport sits in the second slot at 4-2.
St. Martin and Gulfport were slated to start their three game series this week Tuesday night.
