Ocean Springs and Gulfport remain atop the Region 4-7A standings at the mid-way point of the race after wins this week.

On Wednesday night, the Greyhounds followed the consistently solid mound work of ace Jack Jordan to a 6-1 win over home-standing Harrison Central. The win moves OSHS to 6-1 in the region race.

Also, on Tuesday night, the Admirals blanked visiting St. Martin 3-0 to stay a step behind OSHS in the league standings at 5-2.

In Lyman on Wednesday, Jordan worked six solid stanzas scattering three hits and striking out four while walking four as well in earning the win. It was his third straight region win on the hill.

The Greyhounds gave him all the support at the plate he would need in the second stanza, when Adam Clower doubled and scored on A.J. Rossi’s sacrifice bunt followed by an RBI-single from Lucas Sinopoli to make it 2-0.

Ocean Springs doubled that advantage to 4-0 on Cannon Hensarling’s two-run single to make it 4-0 in the fourth. Jayvon Williams added an RBI-single in the sixth and A.J. Arguello also drove in a run to complete the scoring.

Hensarling, Jordan and Sinopoli each had two hits apiece for OSHS in the win.

Jaxon Moore had a double for HCHS and Logan Barefoot drove in the only run for the Red Rebels. Moore also took the loss with just over five frames on pitching work.

Meanwhile, at Herbert Wilson Park on Tuesday, Gulfport also got a standout starting pitching performance from Tolar Raybourn in that 3-0 shutout of St. Martin.

Raybourn twirled a one-hit white-washing through six stanzas on the hill to earn the win, striking out 11 and walking three. Mason Little came on in the seventh and sealed the save.

Cooper Crosby collected a game-high three hits for the Admirals, including smacking a solo home run, while Dane Sullivan added two hits and drove in a run and Davis Ormes had an RBI as well.

Gavin Nitcavic got the only hit for the Yellow Jackets. Caiden Griffin took the loss.

Both series resume Friday night before concluding Saturday afternoon.
