VANCLEAVE —This week’s “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” goes to Aidan Tapp of Vancleave as presented by SouthMiss6 Sports.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator of Bay St. Louis.

Tapp, the senior standout shortstop for the defending Class 5A state champion Bulldogs, has been a steady force both with his glove in the infield and with his bat offensively at the plate for first-year VHS head coach Zac Haarala this season.

The Bulldogs have gotten off to a perfect 7-0 mark in defense of their Region 4-5A crown this year, and Tapp has been a big reason why.

In his last four games, including a three game sweep of Gautier last week, he went 9-for-12 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, and four RBI’s in the Bulldog’s 7-1, 23-2, and 6-5 wins over the Gators.

Then, on Wednesday night in an 11-4 win over visiting Wayne County in a battle to retain sole possession of the top spot in the region race, Tapp had a run-scoring single giving him 10 hits in the past week or so.

Tapp was a solid contributor for the Bulldogs last season as they streaked their way to a 14-1 record in region play en route to a solid 29-8 overall mark and that march to Trustmark Park in Pearl and that win over Lafayette in three games for the state crown.
