“Any time you get a division sweep it’s big. We were fortunate all three starters this week attacked the strike zone.,” acting Gulfport head coach Kelly Weems said. “We had two complete games and a six inning start. That’s huge for us. Our hitters have been working really hard on cutting down strike outs and we did that this week. Then we got big hits when we needed them. I’m really proud of the effort we gave all week.”

On Saturday, Cooper Crosby smashed a grand slam for the Admirals in the big win, and he also drove in a game-high five runs. Brant Rounsaville had two hits and drove in two runs for Gulfport, while James Van Slyke had two hits including a double and an RBI also. Tolar Raybourn also had two hits, including a double, and Damon Burch drove in three runs including a two-run single.

The Admirals broke open a 5-0 game with an eight spot in the bottom of the fourth frame, with half of those runs scoring on Crosby’s homer.
