LUCEDALE — Last season, when George County won the Class 6A state championship, the Rebels went 13-2 in Region 4-6A play.
On Saturday, George County wrapped up its second straight league title with the same mark in the region race after completing a three game sweep of home-standing Hancock with an 8-2 win.

The three losses, including the first two by one run each, eliminated the Hawks from playoff contention as they finished in fifth place in the region race.
On Thursday night, the Rebels picked up a 2-1 win at home when pinch runner Braxton Martin scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The contest turned into a pitchers duel early on between Carson Pierce of GCHS and Hancock’s Brandon Arcement, as both turned in impressive complete game worksheets. Arcement, in fact, fighting to keep the playoff hopes alive for HHS, took the tough luck loss after allowing just three hits and striking out six.

Pierce picked up the win as he struck out eight and gave up six hits.
On Saturday, after Hancock had been eliminated from playoff contention due to Pascagoula’s win over West Harrison on Saturday, The Rebels ended the regular season for both with that 8-2 win.
Brodie Cecchi wielded the big stick on the day for GCHS, as he collected four hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Grant Reeves added two hits to the winning effort, as did Canyon Reeves and Pierce drove in two runs as well.
Chandler Cameron got the win, as a quartet of Rebel pitchers combined to one-hit the Hawks.
Chace Brown took the loss.
