VANCLEAVE — To say that Vancleave has dominated Region 4-5A play on the baseball diamond would be a huge understatement.
The defending Class 5A state champion Bulldogs wrapped up their second straight league title late last week, completing a three game sweep over last place Laurel to end the region race at 14-1 for the second straight season as well.

Vancleave went on the road and took a 13-2 win in just three frames to wrap up the regular season for both teams. Holden Evans and Anthony Buxton each had a double and two RBIs apiece for VHS, while Royce Gatz also drove in two runs.
Carter Doze picked up the pitching win.
The series started with the Bulldogs bombing LHS in a home doubleheader 12-3 and 14-0 as both games ended after the visitors batted just three times.

In game one, Hunter Harper and Connor Mitchell each had a triple while Aidan Tapp and Max Bates each had a double. Mitchell drove in a game-high three runs while Bates had two hits total.
In game two, Harper cracked a two-run home run and Reese Thomasen also drove in two runs. Tapp and Colson Furby each collected a triple apiece.
Harper got the pitching win in game one and Tony Craven got it in game two.
