LUCEDALE — The George County Lady Rebels captured their third consecutive region title recently.
Now, the Class 5A state champs in 2023 have their sights set on bringing home the Class 6A title this season.
George County sits an impressive 24-2 overall as the Class 6A South State playoffs begin on Thursday as the Lady Rebels host Hattiesburg.
“The girls have been putting in a tremendous effort since January to defend their region title for the third consecutive year,” first-year GCHS head coach Anna Grace Cooley said. “This has been a goal we’ve set, and I’m extremely proud of them for achieving it in such a competitive district. I truly believe our district is one of the toughest in the state. Our goal remains the same as it was in January. Throughout the season, we’ve emphasized the importance of being a high-performing playoff team. It’s clear that these girls are working hard to reach that goal, and while winning the south side of the 6A state playoffs will be a challenge, I have full confidence that they are ready for it.”

The Lady Rebels wrapped up region play at a perfect 10-0 last week with a pair of wins over Pascagoula. George County clinched the league crown with two wins over Picayune the week prior.
George County ended the regular season in fine fashion with a solid 12-0 win over the Lady Panthers at home late last week in just four frames.
