SOSO — There is one last series to be settled on the South side in the opening round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
And either Picayune or West Jones will fill that hole as they meet in the rubber match of that match-up Monday night here in Soso.
The Mustangs host the Maroon Tide for the second time in four days, after each team won a road game over the weekend.

After Picayune picked up a 3-2 win here Friday night behind the pitching of Colt Robertson, West Jones headed into Pearl River County Saturday afternoon and came home with a 4-0 win.
The Mustangs got a complete game shutout pitching performance from Clay Tolbert in blanking Picayune, as he allowed five hits and struck out five and walked none.
Tolbert gave himself all the support he would need with an RBI-single in the top of the first. Harrison Pierce added a solo home run for the Mustangs also.

Parker Helton had a double for Picayune.
Kendall Blevins worked six stanzas on the mound in taking the loss for the Maroon Tide.
Meanwhile, Long Beach saw its season come to an end over the weekend after being swept by Hattiesburg.
The visiting Tigers won game one on Thursday night 7-0 before wrapping up the series at home in the Hub City with a 6-1 win Saturday afternoon.

A pair of Hattiesburg hurlers held the Bearcats to just one run and four hits in 14 innings. Andrew Jordan tossed the complete game shutout for the Tigers Friday night and Amari Hill followed that up with another complete game win on Saturday.
Wayne Ulrich’s RBI-single in the fifth frame on Saturday was the lone run registered by Long Beach in the series.
Ulrich took the loss in game two, and Will Brady took the loss in game one.
Flynn James also had a double on Saturday for the Bearcats.
