Both St. Stanislaus and Resurrection survived with game three wins and the season came to an end for St. Patrick Tuesday night in South State prep baseball second round playoff action.

In Seminary, the Fighting Irish fell behind early and never really threatened as the Bulldogs bombed St. Patrick 18-6 in five frames.

St. Patrick actually led 1-0 after after Jasper Moran’s RBI-single in the top of the first frame, but Seminary responded with 18 straight runs over its next four at bats to take complete command of the contest.

St. Patrick actually managed nine hits in the losing effort, but four came in the fifth when they added five fairly meaningless runs to wrap things up. Ayden Le, Eli Bowen, Bennett Rimes and Tyler Zorn all drove in a run apiece during that at bat.

Four Fighting Irish pitchers allowed 19 hits to the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, in Wesson, St. Stanislaus thumped the home-standing Cobras 12-5 in game three of that series to move on and face Seminary later this week in the Class 3A South State playoff semifinal round.

Ayden Dartez had a double among his game-high three hits and he also tallied three RBIs. Stephen Hutchinson also drove in three runs on two hits, and Brooks Ilgenfritz also had two RBIs.

Warren Gunter worked six solid stanzas on the mound to pick up the pitching win.

Elsewhere, in Noxapater, Quinn Inabinette’s two-run home run in the top of the seventh snapped a 6-6 tie and pushed Resurrection past the home-standing Tigers in game three of that Class 1A South State match-up.

Inabinette drove in four runs total on two hits, and the Eagles also got a pair of hits from Bryce Brown in the winning effort. Wyatt Schnoor, Phillip Lauchassee, Andrew Harbin and Joseph Foster all drove in a run apiece for RCS as the Eagles moved on to the Class 1A South State semifinals for fifth straight season.

Cortez King came on in relief and picked up the win with two scoreless innings of work.

Resurrection meets Taylorsville later this week.
