The next “Southern Six” Senior Spotlight sponsored by Reese’s of the school year is Teegan DeWitt of Hancock.
Each week throughout the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports will highlight a senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six” to honor.
DeWitt has been a mainstay for the Lady Hawks on the diamond for several seasons now, and she has her team sitting one win away from a return trip to the Class 6A South State championship round for the second straight season.

DeWitt, who guided the Lady Hawks to the Class. 6A state finals last season, got her team off to a quick start in the state playoffs this season with a comfortable 12-0 and 16-1 sweep of Terry last week. In game one, DeWitt hit a two-run inside the park and drove in three runs total and in the nightcap she added three doubles and two RBis. She also picked up the complete game pitching win in the opener with a four inning no-hitter striking out seven.
Then, Thursday night, DeWitt picked up right where she left off in round one of the playoffs as Hancock opened the Class 6A South State semifinal round with a 5-0 blanking on the road over Pearl River Central in Carriere.

DeWitt was once again in complete control in the circle, as she turned in yet another complete game worksheet tossing a one-hit shutout while striking out seven in the process.
Hancock, now 21-4 overall, hosts PRC Friday night as they try and clinch the series and move on.
