Both St. Stanislaus and Resurrection need wins Monday night to keep their respective seasons alive.

The Rock-A-Chaws face Seminary on the road in game three of that Class 3A South State semifinal series, while Resurrection is down 0-1 after losing a close 1-0 decision on the road at Taylorsville Friday night in game one of that Class 1A South State semifinal affair.

In Bay St. Louis Saturday, St. Stanislaus staved off elimination with a 9-3 win over Seminary after the Bulldogs took game one at home Friday night 5-3.

Garren Couey had a key two-run single for SSC and he drove in a game-high three runs, while Tate Murphy had a big two-run single as well in the win. Cole Shirley also had two RBIs for the Rocks.

Parker Stewart came within one out of recording a complete game to pick up the pitching win.

Wiley Mossy had a home run in the game one loss for SSC Friday night.

Meanwhile, also on Friday night but in Taylorsville, Resurrection was shut out for just the second time this season.

Tartar starting pitcher Ford Matthews dominated the Eagles hurling a complete game one-hitter with nine strikeouts in earning the well-deserved win.

An RBI-single by Tartar Terry Barnes in the bottom of the sixth stanza produced the lone run of the game.

That hit also overshadowed an impressive outing on the mound for Eagles starter Andrew Harbin who also tossed a complete game striking out three and allowing just three hits in taking the tough-luck loss.

Quinn Inabinette had the only hit for RCS.

If Resurrection can force and third and final game in the series, the two teams will reconvene in Taylorsville Tuesday night.
