HURLEY — East Central forced a game three with Florence in its Class 5A SouthState semifinal round series with a 9-5 home win Monday night.
The Hornets and Eagles will have to wait another day to decide the best-of-three series with the rubber match as the finale has been delayed until Wednesday night due to weather issues.

After falling behind early 4-1, East Central erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to take control of the contest.
In that rally, Jaxon Cripps, Matthew Combs and Porter Martin each had a two-run double apiece for ECHS while Blake Hayes had an RBI-double and Grant Vick added an RBI-single.

Vick’s RBI-double in the first was the lone run for the Hornets through the first four frames.
Wyatt Garrard picked up the pitching win after reliving Hunte Prouty to begin the top of the third. He allowed just one run over the next five frames of work and was the beneficiary of the eight run explosion.
