PEARL — George County ace pitcher Preston McAdory made sure the final start of his career for the Rebels was a solid one.
And for that, McAdory is the “Southern Six Senior Spotlight” sponsored by Reese’s.
Each week throughout the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports will highlight a senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six” to honor.

In game one of the Class 6A state championship series here at Trustmark Park Tuesday night, George County got an impressive performance on the mound from McAdory, the starting pitcher. He worked six solid one-hit stanzas, striking out nine in the process, and at one point he set down 11 straight Tiger batters.
McAdory had a no-hitter going through five innings, and he also set down the first two batters of the sixth stanza before allowing his only hit.
Saltillo went on to rally for four unanswered runs and stun GCHS 4-3 in eight innings, but McAdory didn’t factor in the final decision.

“He has been a workhorse over the past two years and has handled the big moments every time his number has been called,” GCHS head coach Brandon Davis said. “He will be missed at George County but we are excited about where he is headed. He could be the next guy on the list of drafted players from ‘The County’”.
McAdory, who was the number two guy for Davis on the hill for much of last season when the Rebels won the state title, quickly stepped up to assume the role of number one during his senior campaign. He went 7-4 this season with a miniscule 1.15 earned run average.
