WIGGINS — Adam Dyess was recently named as the new head baseball coach at Stone High.
Dyes comes to the Tomcats from Mize High School, where he was the leader of the Bulldogs on the diamond for several seasons up until 2024 before taking last year off.
He guided Mize to a 20-10 mark in 2024 and into the second round of the Class 2A South State playoffs. In 2023, the Bulldogs went 26-6 under Dyess and won Region 8-2A and also moved into the Class 2A South State quarterfinals.
Dyess is a graduate of Sumrall High School where he was a standout on the diamond for the Bobcats in the mid 2000’s.
He replaces Sean Miller as the helm of the Tomcats.

Miller stepped down soon after the end of the most recent campaign with the Tomcats after seven seasons in charge on the diamond in Wiggins.
He came to Stone to begin the 2018 season after serving as an assistant coach at Ocean Springs.
Miller led the Tomcats to a 95-84 record during his tenure, including his best season at Stone in 2021 when his squad went 25-8 and fell to perennial state power Sumrall in the Class 4A South State finals.
He is headed to Biloxi to be an assistant coach with the Indians.

“Stone will always hold a special place in my heart,” Miller said. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have served as head coach of the Stone baseball program. Over the past eight years, the experience has helped me grow both as a coach and as a person. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside outstanding coaches and dedicated administrators, and I will always value the relationships and memories we built together.”
The opening at Stone was one of six baseball head coaching openings in the “Southern Six” since the most recent season ended. All but two, Gulfport and Hancock, have been filled.
