BRANDON — After some of the top prep soccer standouts were on display Tuesday night, the action moves from the pitch inside to the gym Wednesday night as volleyball takes over.

The annual Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Volleyball match will take place here at Brandon High School at 6 p.m., and a record number 10 “Southern Six” standouts will be in action for the South squad as it battles the North Team in the affair.

Ocean Springs leads the way with three players in the mix, Anna Hoffmayer, River Schmidt and Lily Rutland. Gulfport placed a pair of players in the game, in Lily Trosclair and Sydney Allen as did OLA with Myah Favre and Loralai Williford. The local contingent is rounded out by George County’s Aryana Dixon, Harrison Central’s Alyvia Goughf and Adelia Goff of East Central.

The “Southern Six” is well represented on the coaching staff as well with Gulfport’s Resi Fitzgerald serving as the head coach and Logan Lockard of Bay High is the assistant coach.

Admission is $10 per person, and are available to purchase electronically through GoFan as well as at the gate. MAC Cards are accepted as well.

Last year, the North won their third match in a row by defeating the South 25-22, 26-24, and 25-22 here at
the “Dog Pound” at Brandon High School in the 20th Annual MAC Volleyball All-Star match. The North three-set victory was their second consecutive sweep and increased the North’s overall series lead to 13-7.

Jania Rose of Lake Cormorant was the North Most Valuable Player and Lynde “Izzi” Barnes of Gulfport took home MVP honors for the South Squad.

The two soccer games Tuesday night were the first of three all-star games that will be played as part of the annual clinic, and the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Volleyball game concludes the action as far as all-star contests are concerned.
