PASS CHRISTIAN — Two years ago, Pass Christian produced an historic season on the football field under then first-year head coach Jeff Stockstill.

Last season, however, the Pirates didn’t fare near as well. And now, in year three of the “Stockstill Era”, Pass Christian looks to get back to the winning ways of their first season under his direction.

After going 9-3 and recording the second most wins in program history in 2023, PCHS dropped to 5-5 last season. In 2023, the Pirates advanced to the Class 4A South State semifinals with a pair of playoff wins for the first time ever in program history then last year they were bounced out in the opening round.

“We had a pretty good Summer, and if we continue to work and move forward I think we have a chance toput a pretty good team on the field,” Stockstill said, in a recent interview. “

However, Pass Christian returns standout signal-caller Paris Truvillion, after he burst upon the scene in the ‘Southern Six” last season as just a freshman due to an injury at the quarterback spot and he really came through for the Pirates.

All he did was produce almost 3,000 yards of total offense including  over 2,000 passing yards and 767 yards on the ground with 27 total touchdowns.

“We’re expecting big things out of Paris if he can stay upright and stay healthy,” Stockstill added.

Trivillion will look to versatile senior Amarie James out wide for some big play potential at times.

The Pirates return a solid corps of upperclassmen up front on both sides of the ball also.

Defensively, seniors Jayden Taylor and Ryland Shoulders will shoulder the load at linebacker.

Shoulders could be asked to pick up some slack at running back also, after the departure of Jacquez Alexander Dedeaux who ran for almost 900 yards last year.

Pass High returns to its longtime home in Region 8-4A this season, along with Bay High, Moss Point, Greene County and newcomer Forrest County AHS. The Aggies replaced defending Class 4A state champion Poplarville, who replaced FCAHS in Region 7-4A this year.

“Last year, we lost five games and all four of them in the regular season including both region loses were all by one score,” Stockstill concluded. “We just could never get over the hump, and that has to change for us this season.”

The Pirates open the new campaign on Fri., Aug.., 29th against longtime neighboring rival Long Beach.
