Prep Volleyball Roundup: Ocean Springs and Biloxi off to 2-0 starts in Region 4-7A play

OCEAN SPRINGS — So far, so good after one week of play in the ranks of Region 4-7A play for Ocean Springs.
The Lady Greyhounds tipped off league play with two straight wins while only losing one set last week. Ocean Springs beat home-standing Harrison Central 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13) on Tuesday and followed that up with a resounding 25-9, 25-15, 25-10 statement at “The Hub” over West Harrison in the home-opener this season for OSHS.

The Lady Greyhounds move to 8-2 overall, and will put their 2-0 region record on the line this week with a trip to Gulfport Tuesday night and then hosting D’Iberville on Thursday night.
Lucy Pepper has registered 131 assists to pace the Lady Greyhounds in that department so far this season, while Lilly Rutland has 84 kills and River Schmidt has 80 digs. Baylor Edmiston has produced 18 aces and Anna Hoffmayer has recorded a team-high 14 blocks.
Meanwhile, Gulfport is coming off a 3-0 sweep of visiting St. Martin on Thursday to open league play as well.

The Lady Yellow Jackets return home on Monday night to host Hancock in non-region action as well. St. Martin is off to an 0-2 start in league action after getting swept by both West Harrison and the Lady Admirals.
Biloxi is knotted with OSHS atop the Region 4-7A standings after one week at 2-0 as well, after the Lady Indians swept D’Iberville and Harrison Central last week.
Biloxi is an impressive 11-3 overall after clipping Clinton 2-0 and Petal by the same score over the weekend.
