OCEAN SPRINGS — Anna Hoffmayer of Ocean Springs gets the first “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the week” of the new school year as presented weekly by SouthMiss6 Sports.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.

The senior standout Hoffmayer has helped guide the Lady Greyhounds to a perfect 3-0 start in Region 4-7A play so far this season after OSHS went on the road and swept Gulfport 3-0 in convincing fashion Tuesday night (25-10, 25-17, 25-17).

Hoffmayer, who is headed to the University of North Alabama on a volleyball scholarship next year, is once again one of the top performers in the net in the state of Mississippi this year.

The 5-foot-10 middle blocker has 58 kills, which is second most on the team, as well as 14 total blocks which leads the Lady Greyhounds.

Last year, as a junior, Hoffmayer recorded 289 kills with 52 blocks, 29 aces and 65 digs in leading OSHS to the Class 7A South State championship with a clean 3-0 sweep over Brandon and a berth in the overall state title match.

After guiding the Lady Greyhounds to an impressive 35-10 record last season that ended with a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to Lewisburg in the Class 7A state championship that saw the Lady Patriots rally from a 2-0 deficit, Hoffmayer has OSHS off to a 9-2 overall start this year as she looks to help her team return to the overall state finals before heading to North Alabama for college ball.

“I chose UNA because it had everything I was looking for academically. athletically, and personally in a school,” Hoffmayer said recently. “I also really liked the small town feel of Florence and the support of the athletic community. Roar Lions !”

After that successful trip to Gulfport Tuesday night, Hoffmayer and Ocean Springs return home and remain in region play hosting D’Iberville Thursday night at “The Hub”.
