ST. MARTIN — Seth Crockett of St. Martin gets the “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week”, as presented by SouthMiss6 Sports this week.
Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.
Crockett, St. Martin’s sophomore standout signal-caller, ran roughshod over Vancleave Friday night in a 64-21 season opening win for the Yellow Jackets.


He was responsible for 370 total yards of offense and five touchdowns in the victory, as St. Martin registered its highest point total in football game in the 67-year history of the program.
Crockett threw for 183 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 164 yards and four touchdowns.
With SMHS up 8-0 after the opening quarter, early in the second stanza Crockett connected with Cameron Romero on a 41 yard scoring pass play to make it 15-0. After a VHS score, Crockett rushed 23 yards on the quarterback draw for a 22-7 lead.


Crockett would continue his big night on the ground with a pair of scoring runs at the 03:50 and 00:46 mark of the second quarter. The Crockett rushes were from 10 and 19 yards, respectively, and. the Yellow Jackets went into halftime up 36-14.
The third quarter was more Crockett, as he once again found the end zone on the ground from 4-yards away with 10:32 to go in the quarter to make it 43-14.
Crockett and St Martin gained 558 combined yards of total offense in the win.
This week, St. Martin faces another Jackson County rival as the Yellow Jackets head to East Central.
