BILOXI — The third “Southern Six” Senior Spotlight sponsored by Burnham Drugs of the school year is Solomon Baggett of Ocean Springs.

Each week of the school year, we here at SouthMiss6 Sports along with Burnham Drugs will highlight a deserving senior student/athlete in the “Southern Six”.

Baggett and his Greyhounds are 2-0 so far in the new campaign, and the running back has played a key role in both wins.

He has wasted no time in making his mark at OSHS after transferring over from Gautier as on the second offensive series of the season against Meridian Baggett gave the Greyhounds a lead they would never relinquish with a three-yard touchdown run mid-way through the first period to put the visitors up 7-0 en route to a 35-0 win.

Then, last week, in the first regular season meeting between OSHS and Petal in 15 years, the Greyhounds also never trailed as Baggett scampered 25-yards for the first touchdown of the game just over three minutes in to put OSHS up 7-0.

On Petal’s ensuing possession, Greyhound linebacker Brody Saenz fell on a Panther fumble at his own 45-yard line.

The Greyhound offense went right back to work, converting the turnover into points on a 1-yard scoring plunge by Baggett at the 4:29 mark of the opening frame and suddenly it was 13-0. Ocean Springs went on to record a 27-17 win.
