MOSS POINT — The Moss Point Tigers (1-2) picked up their first win of the 2025 campaign on Homecoming with a 24-14 decision over the Saint Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws (1-2) on Friday Night at Dantzler Stadium.

The Tigers celebrated Homecoming 2025 by snapping an historic 11 game losing streak dating back to the end of the 2023 season.

The Tigers scored first when Maroreo Kelly picked up a loose ball in the backfield and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown with 10:45 remaining in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed leaving the score 6-0.

The Rocks were unable to move the ball and punted away to Moss Point.

The Tigers needed just one play to increase their lead with a 67-yard scoring aerial from Keelan Harper to Terrance Jones with 7:56 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed leaving the score 12-0.

The Rocks lined up to punt away and Jordan McInnis blocked the kick then scooped up the loose ball and scored on a 25-yard return with 6:55 remaining in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed leaving the score 18-0.

The Rocks fumbled the ball away on their ensuing possession and it looked as though Moss Point would have another touchdown; however, Fisher Smith stepped in front of a Moss Point pass and intercepted the football and returned it to the Tiger 32-yard line.

The Rocks would turn the ball over on downs only to get it back when Brayden McDonald picked off a pass near midfield and returned it to the Tiger 8-yard line. 

Lex Rhodes scored on an eight-yard carry with three seconds left in the opening quarter. The two-point conversion failed leaving the score 18-6.

Moss Point put together two long drives of 14 and 11 plays in the second quarter with the second drive resulting in a 10-yard scoring pass from Harper to Terrance Coleman with 16 seconds left in the first half. The two-point conversion failed leaving the score 24-6 at intermission.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Rocks were picked off by Shaun Bether at the Tiger 18-yard line; however their drive did not last long.

Smith picked off his second Tiger pass of the game and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown with 10:35 left to play. McDonald converted the two-point run conversion to make the score 24-14.

The two teams swapped possessions for the remainder of the contest with Moss Point holding on for the Homecoming victory.

The Rocks were led by McDonald with 13 carries for 45 yards while the Tigers were paced by Amarion Scott with 44 yards on 10 carries. Harper threw for 171 yards on 13-for-26 passing with a pair of touchdowns and three picks. 

The Rocks will host Pass Christian on Friday, September 19, while Moss Point will travel to Gautier.
