GAUTIER — Home-standing Gautier snapped a pair of short losing streaks with an impressive 37-0 shutout win over Moss Point for Homecoming Friday night.
The Gators scored early and often in the renewal of this Jackson County rivalry and coasted to the win. The decision stappoed a two game losing streak for GHS, and moved head coach Marc High’s squad to an even 2-2 on the season. Also, it started a new home win streak for the gators after D’Iberville ended a school record 20 game span two weeks ago.
Moss Point fell to 1-3 on the year, after snapping an 11-game losig streak last week with a home win over St. Stanislaus.

Gautier running Latrell Pogue, a key piece of the Gator teams that made it all the way to the Class 5A state championship game last year, enjoyed one of the best outings of his career as he ran the ball just six times for 143 yards and scored four of Gautier’s five touchdowns on the night.
“It always feels good to get back on track and win a game,” High, in his eighth season at the helm of GHS, said. “Our defense played well and Pogue had a pretty good game running the ball.”
After the Homecoming royalty was feted before kickoff, the home team wasted no time in joing in on the celebration after it as Gautier quarterback Keon McNeil found wide out Kasin Thomas in the back corner of the end zone from 25 yards out just over four minutes into the game to give the Gators a lead they would never relinquish at 7-0.
Then, Pogue took over and proceeded to put the game away before halftime.

His first score came on a 30-yard run at the 3:31 mark of the opening quarter to make it 14-0.
He followed that up with a 2-yard touchdown plunge as the first frame ended and it was 21-0.
Just two minutes into the second stanza, Pogue broke a tackle or two and scampered out wide for a 60 yard scoring run to extend the home advantage to 28-0.
He then ended the scoring on the evening with a 15-yard touchdown das with 2:02 to play before intermission. Gator place-kicker Eric Robinson’s fifth successful extra point of the first half made it 35-0.
The running clock was deployed in the second half.
