OCEAN SPRINGS — Twenty five and still alive.
That could have been the motto of the annual Homecoming contest for Ocean Springs Friday night as the Greyhounds knocked down Biloxi 31-6 in the Region 4-7A opener for both teams.
The win marked the 25th straight region win for OSHS, a school record, that dates back to the end of the 2020 season. The decision also kept the Greyhounds unbeaten on the season at 5-0, while the Indians fell to 1-4.
Soon after the queen was crowned in pre-game ceremonies, there wouldn’t be much more wondering as to what the rest of the night would hold as the home team jumped out to a commanding 28-0 halftime advantage and never looked back.

After taking over on its first possession of the game after a short punt at the BHS 48, Greyhound running back Lanny Waltman opened the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown jaunt to give OSHS a lead it would never relinquish at 7-0 just before the mid-way point of the first quarter.
The Indians again gave the Greyhounds great field possession, as OSHS cornerback Eric Johnson recovered a fumble by Biloxi quarterback Biloxi at the Indian 42.
Two minutes later, Greyhound quarterback Chalmers Berglind found Ian Harlan on a 33-yard scoring strike to double up the OSHS lead at 14-0 at the 2:36 mark still in the opening period.

It was more of the same in the second stanza, as OSHS defensive back Ayden Watson picked off a Ramsey pass at the goalline on a 4th and goal situation, giving the ball back to the home team.
From There, Berglind found his older brother and tight end Hayden Berglind on a long pass to get the drive rolling, and Waltman ended it with an 8-yard scoring scamper to make it 21-0 with 6:13 to play before halftime.
Ocean Springs head coach Jake Bramlett then called for an on-sides kick off and Greyhound versatile standout Sharroid Whitehead recovered the well executed boot just past mid-field.
Two plays later, Waltman covered 19 yards for his third rushing score of the night. The fourth successful point-after of the first half by OSHS place-kicker Peyton Williams, who also produced the on-sides kick, put the Greyhounds in total control at 28-0 at the 4:36 mark of the second stanza.

Just for good measure, Ocean Springs safety Eli Chenault registered an interception on the final play of the opening half to keep it at 28-0.
The only scoring in the second half came on a 34-yard touchdown toss from Ramsey to Biloxi wide out William Lai to put the Indians on the board.
OSHS kicker Evan Ta ended the scoring with a 27-yard field goal with 4:32 to play.
